Patient Information Sheet

The Yarraville Village Family Medical Centre is a thriving general practice located in the western suburbs of Melbourne in an Edwardian building. The practice has been established in this area for over 80 years.
The practice has undergone two extensions in the past 10 years. Our practice has a total of 6 consulting rooms, and a dedicated treatment room. There is also a large, disabled toilet, also fitted with a baby change table. There is also now a second separate toilet for staff use.
The front exterior area of the property has been upgraded to include a more direct access from front gate to front door. This will enable easier access for wheelchairs,pushers, and emergency staff with guerneys. There is also more external seating provided for patients, including an area for wheelchairs.
The practice currently has staff of 9 part-time doctors. Support staff include 5 part-time receptionists and 2 part-time registered nurses. A comprehensive range of family medical services are provided to patients of all ages. The doctors have special interests including ENT, back mobilisation, diabetes, asthma ,womens’ health, mens’ health, travel medicine, and skin cancer medicine. The principal doctor also has an interest in Information Technology.

Monday through Friday 9.00am to 6:15 pm

Saturday 9.00am to 12.00pm

DOCTORS
All the doctors at this practice have satisfied the training requirements of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and are on the Australian Vocational Register of General Practitioners. They have a commitment to general practice and to continuing medical education.

Dr Ivor Green (MBBS)
Dr Green has been working as a GP for over 30 years and has worked in this medical practice since 1984. Prior to commencing in Yarraville, Dr Green worked in several medical practices and hospitals both in Melbourne (the Royal Children’s Hospital and the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital) and England (Oxford Hospital). He has completed postgraduate courses in acupuncture, antenatal care, diabetes and manual medicine.
Dr Green works at the practice on Tuesdays and Fridays.

Dr Peter Rankin (MBBS, FRACGP)
Dr Rankin graduated from Melbourne University in 1979.He has worked in the north western suburbs of Melbourne as a GP for over 30 years. Prior to joining us in 2010, Dr Rankin operated his own practice in Deer Park. He has a special interest in skin cancer medicine (dermoscopy and surgery) and completed his Masters in Medicine (skin cancer) in 2013. As well as working in the general practice Dr Rankin operates his skin scan clinic at which he can peform full body skin scans. Dr Rankin is at our practice Tuesday through Thursday.

Dr Clare Roczniok (MBBS, FRACGP)
Dr Roczniok graduated from the University of Melbourne in 1984.  Dr Roczniok has over 30 years experience as a General Practitioner.  Dr Roczniok enjoys all aspects of General Practice.  Dr Roczniok works at our practice on Mondays, Tuesday, Wednesday (AM only), Thursdays and Friday (AM only).

Dr Eliza Lanyon (MBBS, FRACGP)
Dr Lanyon graduated from Bond University in 2010 and has since completed her FRACGP fellowship.  Dr Lanyon has completed further qualifications in Child Health and Level 2 Mental Health training.  Dr Lanyon has worked across a number of General Practices.  Dr Lanyon’s interests include children’s health, mental health and travel medicine.  Dr Lanyon works at our practice on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Dr Simon Cooper (MBBS, FRACGP)
Dr Cooper graduated from the University of Tasmania in 1982.  Dr Cooper previously owned and operated his own General Practice in Brighton for 18 years.  Dr Cooper has been working across a number of General Practices over the last 6 years.  Dr Cooper’s areas of interest are paediatrics, physical and intellectual disability with young adults, geriatrics and men’s health.   Dr Cooper works at our practice Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Dr Maree Elder (MBBS, FRACGP)
Dr Elder graduated from Deakin University in 2011. Dr Elder’s are of interest include Women’s Health, Children’s Health and Sexual Health. Dr Elder has recently completed her Certificate of Primary Care Dermatology. She has experience working across a number of General Practices. Dr Elder works at our practice Monday through Friday and Saturday (AM only).

Dr Balvinder (Bal) Khaira (MBBS, FRACGP)
Dr Khaira graduated from University of Western Australia in 2009 and has completed his RACGP Fellowship. Dr Khaira is a Melbourne Inner West local. Dr Khaira has a special interest in dealing with complex Mental Health and Psychotheraphy cases. His other interest includes chronic disease and adolescent health. Dr Khaira has experience working across a number of clinics. Dr Khaira will be working at the practice Wednesday afternoons and Friday.

Dr Samantha Bryant (MBBS, FRACGP)
Dr Samantha Bryant gained her Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) at the University of Melbourne in 1994. She became a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) in 2001. She has worked as a GP in Melbourne since then. She enjoys working across the full spectrum of general practice medicine. Dr Bryant will be working at the practice Monday and Thursday.

Dr Michelle McCarthy (MBBS, FRACGP)
Dr Michelle McCarthy graduated from Cambridge University in 2004. She is vocationally registered as a fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. Dr Michelle McCarthy has been practicing as a GP in Australia since 2009. Her areas of interest include fertility, prenatal and antenatal care, disease prevention and psychological wellbeing. Dr McCarthy will be working at the practice Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.

PRACTICE NURSES

Ms Hala Mansour is a registered nurse (Divison 1) and qualified immuniser. Hala works at our practice Monday, Thursday and Friday.
Ms Shari Tucker is a registered nurse (Division 1). Shari works at our practice Tuesday and Wednesday.

RECEPTIONISTS

Ms Janine Hamilton, Practice Manager works Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
Ms Vilma Keenan works Monday, Thursday and Friday.
Ms Simone Scott works Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.
Ms Samantha Kyparissis works Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday
Ms Kaye Johnstone works Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

FEES
This practice is a private billing practice.  Pension cardholders will be $20 out of pocket for consultations. Health Care card will be a $25 out of pocket fee for consultations. Patients without these cards are privately billed; usually this results in an out of pocket expense of approximately $48.25. Exceptions which are always privately billed include: consultations in; Mental Health Treatment Plans, Work Cover consultations*, TAC*, Medico-Legal expenses including medical reports and consultations that include products such as dressings and injections. Please speak to one of our receptionists about the charges for these consultations and services. Fees are to be paid at the time of the consultation by cash or EFTPOS (MasterCard or VISA).

*WorkCover & TAC matters are treated only with confirmation of the treating doctor, prior to an appointment.

We run an appointment system that keeps a few times open to accommodate urgent problems. You can make an appointment with your doctor by telephoning the surgery. Alternatively, for added patient convenience, you can now book appointments online via our website, at yarravillemed.com.au, or via the HealthEngine phone app. You will receive an SMS reminder the day prior to your appointment.
